The Hong Kong Prize is an annual award presented to a researcher who has made outstanding contributions in promoting HK’s global development, shaping its role on the international stage and making a difference to the world.
The Prize honours researchers for their outstanding achievements in five fields: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life Science and Medicine, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing and FinTech. Moreover, it is designed to encourage scientific entrepreneurs in Hong Kong to explore further and develop the potential of their scientific research and invention.
This year’s winners of the HK Prize were congratulated by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, who said that the work of this year’s laureates “opens doors of scientific possibility and has created a more positive world for people to live in.” The winners were honored at a ceremony in the HKSAR on Sunday.
Each winner will receive a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Selected applicants who didn’t pass the semi-final, but show great promise and potential will also receive Honorable Mention Certificates. In addition, the finalists will be invited to join in HKGNA Masterclasses and may be given the opportunity to perform in our upcoming concert events!
The HK Prize is an annual award sponsored by a private bank in Hong Kong to recognise researchers for their outstanding contributions in the field of advancing the global development of Hong Kong. It is a way to celebrate the city’s rich and diverse culture, while encouraging young researchers to continue their journey of excellence in Hong Kong.
