The Singapore Prize is awarded annually to the best public-private partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship. The winner is deemed to have created significant and lasting impact, benefiting Singaporeans and the rest of the world. The prize has been dubbed “the Singapore version of the MIT Technovation Award” and was first established in 1995, to recognise organisations that contribute to the economic development of Singapore.
The winner of the singapore prize is chosen from a shortlist that is evaluated by a Prize Council and a Nominating Committee, composed of a wide range of established urban experts and professionals. The evaluation process takes into account the different perspectives of the judges to find out what it is that really makes cities great.
Each year, the Prize attracts more than 200 entries from various industries and sectors from around the globe. A panel of judges selects ten outstanding enterprises to be awarded the Prize in the categories of Enterprise 50, Business Excellence, and the new Champion of Good award. The winners are rewarded with medals and trophies that are displayed at the Singapore Press Centre.
Amongst the winners of the 2023 Singapore Literature Prize, which included writing, translation and comic art, was the self-published Cockman (2022) by Kenfoo, which was lauded for its total lack of compromise or seriousness, and over-the-top audacity. English translator Jeremy Tiang was also a winner for his work on Chinese author Zhang Yueran’s Cocoon (2022), which was described as an enthralling story of friendship and familial secrets across generations.
The winners of the singapore prize were celebrated at a star-studded ceremony at Mediacorp Campus, Singapore on Tuesday (7 November). The 2023 winners of the Earthshot Prize, a global innovation competition sponsored by the Royal Foundation, were announced on stage at the event. The finalists are Accion Andina, GRST, WildAid Marine Program, S4S Technologies and Boomitra.
The winner of the prize is awarded a trophy and a stipend of $2,975. In addition to that, the winner receives 16.5 OWGR points and is eligible for standard Tour event-winning benefits such as two-plus season exemptions and berths in key events.
